Sarah Ritter
Wildlife Artist
Sarah Ritter is a freelance artist currently residing in Calgary, AB. A self-taught artist, Sarah developed her style through experimentation, and currently focuses on works that blend realism with stylization. Focusing on wildlife, Sarah creates engaging works though both traditional and digital mediums. Introduced to the digital art world prior to high school, Sarah has created her own style that incorporates bold swirls into wildlife design with a clean and minimalist approach to coloration. In addition to refining this unique style, Sarah continues to experiment with digital semi-realism, with a focus especially on wild canine species including color variants of her favorite animal: the Grey Wolf (Canis lupus). While a doodler at heart, Sarah did not refine her traditional art until during university, where she was studying Biology and Music as two separate degrees. Inspired by her love of animals, Sarah started practising realism in 2021 and has continued to refine her skills and find her own style. She currently practices both realism and heavily stylized semi-realism black and white art using graphite. In addition, she paints animals and insects in watercolor, with a fondness in particular of birds and butterflies from around the globe. Sarah’s art has been featured as cover art for choir scores (JW Pepper Music Publishing 2023), in the Ambrosia Literary Review (Nov 2022, Apr 2023), Ambrose University’s Calling All Artist Campaign (2021-2022; 2022-2023), the Bishop Carroll High School yearbook (2019) and t-shirt and parking pass (2017). Sarah Ritter is currently a member of the Calgary Sketch Club. Sarah Ritter is currently participating in the 2025 Youth Calgary Stampede Poster Competition.
